When is picnic day 2018




















This family friendly event is free for all to come and experience the richness of diversity and achievement at UC Davis and the surrounding community in the areas of research, teaching, service and campus life. All events and parking are free! Picnic Day begins with the parade opening ceremony at am, and the parade begins at am. Most events hosted by Picnic Day run from am to pm or pm. All events hosted by Picnic Day start after am and end before pm. There are other independent events on Picnic Day that run into the evening, including Battle of the Bands and Davis Dance Revolution, which end around pm.

We feel that our theme showcases not only the sunny and bright environment of UC Davis but also the cheerful people and their warm expressions on Picnic Day. The Board of Directors is dedicated to planning this event to give our students and community a day to look forward to. A day full of laughter, awe, and inspiration. A day where you can milk a cow, watch dogs race, and see the latest student-created fashion strut the runway.

Live fish display and other fun fishy-activities for the kids! Visitors may pet or gently hold day-old hatched chicks while closely supervised by trained student volunteers and avian staff.

There will be LIVE fish, animal-themed face painting, and crafts for the kids! Come see the Museum Specimen Preparation Demonstration from 10 am to noon! View chicks actively hatching from eggs in tabletop incubators! Volunteers from the lab will be present to answer questions and keep an eye on the incubators. All visitors are required to clean their hands before exiting this exhibit. Flyball is a relay race for dogs. Come see this exciting event!

It is high energy and draws a good crowd. We provide retiring Thoroughbred racehorses with the chance to transition to new careers. Learn about horses currently available for adoption, as well as volunteer and internship opportunities! Confused by clever marketing schemes? Paw Pals USA offers comprehensive and natural solutions, keeping pets healthy and hearts happy!

Guess the weight and learn more about how pork is produced in the meat industry. Get all your questions answered about the UC Davis Dairy and how milk is made into cheese, ice cream, yogurt, and other dairy products. Come learn about the ecological and commercial importance of these sturgeon to our state!

We will be giving out tote bags and vouchers for our clinics. Come by and play our Plinko game! Bring the whole family for farm fun! We take in dogs that are often only hours from being euthanized, and help them find homes throughout California as well as Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Canada. All dogs adopted from ROF come with free lifetime Obedience training classes. Come and say hi to those cute dogs! Canine Companions for Independence Hutchison Field 10 AM—4 PM A nonprofit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities.

It supports the mission of Canine Companions by raising puppies, caring for breeders, and supporting local graduate teams. Come by and say hi! Who are those people walking around talking about dog snot all the time? Meet the UC Davis shelter medicine team and find out! Then come watch us paint with chalk the different muscle groups on a Morgan horse as a live illustration of equine anatomy! Stop by the show! Netflix will be filming, and Starbucks gift cards will be given to participants!

Our canine athletes are sure to wow the spectators with their daring catches and sky high leaps! Competitors are awarded points based on catching the frisbee and distance of throw. The show will take place in the middle of the Frisbee Dog Contest. The little doxies will run their hearts out center stage at the Pavilion looking to win first prize and the hearts of s in attendance! This year, we were awarded a grant by The Green Initiative Fund to reduce our waste production and provide more sustainable crafts.

Most of our crafts qualify as ZeroWaste, meaning that they are either recyclable, compostable, or made from recycled materials. Search for fun facts at our booths!
