If a car completely breaks as a result of a jump start, it's a design failure, nothing else. Again, I don't say that this isn't a concern in certain cars, I'm just saying that we should demand something better. If a car's electronics don't stand a jump-start, then it should be the manufacturer's obligation to fix the broken design they've messed up, not the customer to blame for executing a perfectly sensible DIY action.
